Clinical Detail
How we approach this treatment.
Lip anatomy and assessment
A lip consultation at Face and Co assesses far more than volume: upper to lower lip ratio, philtral column definition, Cupid's bow shape, vermilion border integrity, tooth show at rest and on smiling, and the position of the lips within the lower facial third. Where the concern is actually a short upper lip, heavy perioral lines or a receding chin, we say so rather than adding product that will not solve it.
Products and technique
We select from a range of hyaluronic acid fillers with differing cohesivity, choosing softer, more hydrating gels for body and definition and firmer products only where genuine structural support is required. Placement is precise and conservative, using a combination of needle and cannula, with product kept in the correct anatomical plane to reduce the risk of migration and lumps.
Correcting previous work
Migration, tyndall, nodules and heavy, shelf like upper lips from repeated overfilling are common presentations. Treatment usually begins with dissolving, a settling period of at least two weeks, then a considered rebuild. This is slower than most patients expect, and it is the honest route to a lip that looks like it belongs on the face.
Recovery timeline
Day one to two: peak swelling and possible bruising. Day three to five: swelling largely resolves and shape becomes apparent. Week two: the result has fully settled and is reviewed. Firmness in the tissue can persist for two to three weeks and is entirely normal.

Questions
Frequently asked.
How much is lip filler in Belfast?
Lip filler at Face and Co Belfast is from £150. The final figure depends on the product and volume agreed at your consultation. Prices shown are examples only and a consultation is always required for accurate pricing and a treatment plan. VIP members pay between 5 and 20 percent less depending on tier.
How long does lip filler last?
Most patients enjoy results for 9 to 12 months depending on the product chosen and individual metabolism.
Will my lips look natural?
Yes. Our approach is rooted in subtlety, enhancing your natural lip shape rather than altering it.
Is the treatment painful?
Discomfort is minimal. Topical anaesthetic and lidocaine within the filler keep the experience very comfortable.
How much swelling should I expect?
Swelling peaks at 24 to 48 hours and settles over three to five days. The final result is assessed at two weeks, which is when we review and refine if needed.
Can lip filler be dissolved?
Yes. Hyaluronic acid filler is reversible with hyaluronidase. We keep it on site and can also correct migrated or overfilled work placed elsewhere.
I have had filler elsewhere and it has migrated. Can you help?
This is a large part of our lip work. We assess the border, dissolve where required, allow the tissue to settle and then rebuild the shape properly. Honest advice comes first, even when that means no treatment on the day.
How often should lip filler be topped up?
Typically once a year. Treating too frequently is the most common cause of stretched tissue and migration, so we would rather see you less often and keep the result clean.
