Clinical Detail
How we approach this treatment.
Scalp assessment and suitability
Assessment covers the pattern of loss, hair calibre, density at the crown, temples and hairline, and how long the thinning has been present. We also ask about thyroid function, iron and ferritin, postnatal changes and stress, because treating the scalp while an underlying cause continues gives a poor result.
Mechanism and technique
Concentrated platelets release growth factors that improve blood supply to the follicle, extend the anagen growth phase and reduce miniaturisation. Plasma is placed in fine, evenly spaced deposits at dermal level across the affected zone, with attention to the density of the injection grid rather than volume alone.
What the results look like
The first sign is reduced shedding, usually noticed in the shower or on the pillow at around six to eight weeks. Visible density follows from three to four months as new hairs thicken. Progress photographs at each session are the only reliable way to judge, because gradual change is hard to see day to day.

Questions
Frequently asked.
When will I see results?
Most patients notice reduced shedding within 6 to 8 weeks and improved density from 3 to 4 months.
Is it safe?
PRP uses your own blood, making it one of the safest regenerative treatments available.
Does PRP work for male pattern baldness?
It works best in early to moderate thinning where follicles are miniaturised but still active. Where an area has been completely bald for years, the follicles are gone and PRP cannot bring them back. We will tell you that at consultation.
How much is PRP hair restoration in Belfast?
Pricing is per session with course pricing available for the initial three treatments. Exact cost is confirmed at your scalp assessment.
Does it hurt?
The scalp is sensitive, so we use a fine needle technique and can apply cooling or topical anaesthetic. Most patients describe brief stinging during placement and mild tenderness that evening.
How many sessions do I need long term?
An initial course of three sessions four to six weeks apart, then maintenance every four to six months. Hair loss is progressive, so stopping maintenance means gradual return of shedding.
Can I combine PRP with minoxidil or finasteride?
Yes, and combined approaches usually outperform any single treatment. We will coordinate around any medication prescribed by your GP or dermatologist.
